Title 1 Team: Mrs. Pamela Arnold, Mrs. Renee Jasper, Mrs. Caralyne Raynes, Mrs. Kristen Vance, Mrs. Pamela Brotherton
The purpose of Title 1 is to ensure that all children have a fair, equal, and significant opportunity to obtain a high-quality education and reach, at a minimum, proficiency on challenging State academic achievement standards and state academic assessments. Title 1 Teachers at Dunbar Primary work to accomplish this by providing extra reading and math support through regular intervention services for students who are struggling.
DIBELS Benchmark assessments are completed three times during the school year to measure skills such as alphabet recognition, fluency, comprehension, and decoding (sounding out words). The results of these assessments are used to form small groups to enhance instruction though shortening the teacher to student ratio and differentiate instruction for students. Some students will come to Title 1 for extra instruction based on these results.
I-Ready Benchmark assessments in reading and math are completed three times during the school year to measure skills such as phonological awareness, phonics, vocabulary, and comprehension for reading and numbers and operations, algebraic thinking, measurement and data and geometry for math. The results of these assessments are used to form small groups to enhance instruction though shortening the teacher to student ratio and differentiate instruction for students. Some students will come to Title 1 for extra instruction based on these results.
You will receive a letter from us if your student is receiving any Title 1 support for reading or math. With each letter, we include a few resources that will help you to incorporate reading and math into your daily routine.
Please remember to have fun with math and reading at home! Together we can make a difference!!
